Cleveland State women’s volleyball swept at Colgate Invitational
Cleveland State volleyball wrapped up the Colgate Invitational by dropping all three matches on Sept. 10-11. The Vikings captured only one set out of 10 played during the three games as they are currently on a five-game losing streak.
Overall, the Vikings (2-7) have won 10 out of 32 sets played this season.
In their first match of the Colgate Invitational against Princeton, the Vikings jumped off to a hot start, winning the set 25-17. The ladies then proceed to drop the next three sets very closely, falling 22-25, 20-25 and 20-25.
Going into the second matchup the Vikings lost a nail-biter in their first set against Hofstra. CSU trailed 21-15 before scoring the next five points to bring it to 21-20. They would eventually lose the set 25-23.
In the second set, CSU and Hofstra went back and forth with 11 ties before the Pride finally pulled away to take the set, 25-18. In the final frame, the Vikings jumped out to a 10-6 advantage before losing the lead and dropping the set, 25-21.
In the final match against Colgate, CSU dropped the first set 25-17. The next two sets, they registered only 15 points both times. Losing both sets 25-15.
During the three-game stretch, sophomore Abby Miller racked up 72 assists. Junior Audrey McConihe added 47 digs.
The Vikings will look to rebound with a three-game stint at the Evansville Invitational between Sept 17-18.
