Seiter wins 1-m springboard title at at Horizon League Championship

Sophomore Ellie Seiter captured Cleveland State’s only Horizon League title of the meet, winning the 1-meter diving event with a score of 294.35.

Sophomore Ellie Seiter on Friday captured Cleveland State’s only Horizon League title of the 2026 Horizon League Championship in women's swimming and diving, winning the 1-meter diving event with a score of 294.35. CSU's Lorelai Maisano placed ninth at 248.50 and Ella Bohmer finished 16th.

Earlier, Riley Ogilvie became the first individual swimmer to reach the podium for CSU, placing third in the 400-yard individual medley with the third-fastest time in program history at 4:24.45.

With 442 points, the Vikings placed fourth at the meet, which wrapped up on Saturday. Oakland won the HL Championship with 896.5 points, Milwaukee was second with 641 points, and IU Indy was third with 530 points.

Friday highlights

Tess Walsh opened day three of the four-day event with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, touching in 56.13. The time improved her previous spot in the program record book from eighth. Audrey Butcher added a 12th-place finish in 56.62.

Alongside Ogilvie's bronze in the 400-yard individual medley, the Vikings also claimed 14th through 16th place: Isabella Caraballo (4:37.32), Olivia Leonard (4:37.91) and Chelsea Burkhart (4:39.23).

In the 200-yard freestyle, Rosie Whitten placed eighth in 1:53.46. Oksana Horova finished 11th in 1:54.06, Gretchen Chelf was 13th in 1:54.59 and Gwen Kainass took 16th in 1:56.61.

Ella Ciez earned an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.04, while Skyler Turner placed 13th in 1:05.85.

Gracie Chelf won the B final of the 100-yard backstroke in 56.20, the 10th-fastest time in program history. Alaina Brown followed in 56.50.

Saturday highlights

On the final day of the Championship, Brown placed sixth in the 200-yard backstroke after finishing in 2:01.84, giving her the fourth-fastest time at Cleveland State. Hannah Panko was 14th with a time of 2:05.95.

The 100-yard freestyle saw Chelf touch in 50.74, for fifth place. Whitten won the B-final, sprinting to the tenth fastest time in program history, 51.42. Palmer (52.21) came in eleventh, and Horova (52.67) was two spots back.

Turner finished the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:23.00, placing her seventh.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Walsh came in tenth, in 2:08.07. Butcher was 16th with a time of 2:13.59.

Caraballo finished the 1650-yard freestyle in 17:16.15, putting her in fifth place.

The Vikings wrapped up the Championship with a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Chelf, Palmer, Horova and Whitten clocking 3:24.62.
