CSU women’s tennis falls 4-3 to Temple
The Cleveland State women’s tennis team on Sunday finished its Morgantown, West Virginia road swing with a narrow 4-3 loss against Philadelphia's Temple University.
The Vikings started out the match on a strong note, with Ella Franz and Melliz Petkova Mustafa securing a 6-4 victory in the opening doubles. The Vikings dropped the second rubber 6-0, before Anna Mancino and Leah Geisz rebounded to take the final match 7-6(3).
Mancino carried that momentum into her singles match at the No. 3 spot, leading 6-4, 4-1 when her opponent retired.
The Vikings's Jenna Redmile at No. 4, was CSU's other singles winner of the six matches, defeating Temple's Yasmin Costa 7-5, 1-6, 6-1.
The Vikings will be back on the road next weekend, starting with Marshall on Friday, Feb. 6.
