CSU Volleyball falls to Purdue Fort Wayne to open 2026 Horizon League play
Cleveland State volleyball (3-10, 0-2) closed out the first weekend of #HLVB play Saturday, losing both contests on the road to Purdue Fort Wayne.
On Friday, the Vikings lost 3-2 in a well-fought five-set contest. The Vikings won the first set 25-22, paced by the offensive play of Bryn VanVleet. However, the Mastadons took the next two sets 25-23, before Cleveland State fought back in the fourth 25-21.
The hosts then steadied to close out the final set 15-9 for the win.
The Vikings' second match of the weekend on Saturday resulted in a 3-1 loss to the Mastodons.
VanVleet led the offense with 13 kills, followed by Alyssa Cerovac with 10, while Fiona Cooper posted 31 assists that match.
Julia Jozefov rallied with five block assists for the Vikings, while VanVleet and JeriLynn Koehler both posted three.
The Vikings are now 3-10 for the season and 0-2 for the Horizon League.
Up next: The Vikings will be at home next week, hosting Northern Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 2, and Wright State on Saturday, Oct. 3.
