
CSU women’s swim team tops St. Bonaventure
The Cleveland State women's swim team improved to 4-2 in dual races after beating St. Bonaventure on the road, 188-112 on Friday, Jan. 17.
The Vikings set the tone with a 200-yard medley win, as Audrey Butcher, Ella Ciez, Ellie Mckibbin and Grace Chelf finished in 1:46.20.
Giovanna Cappabianca dominated the meet, winning all of her races; 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.16), 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.48) and 200-yard IM (2:09.22.).
Cleveland State freshman Eva Smith won both the 100-yard backstroke (57.36) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.07).
Audrey Butcher won the 200-yard butterfly by finishing in 2:09.44. Butcher also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.48 while her teammate Haley Palmer finished in 59.38 as the runner-up.
Sophomore Kayla Brock was able to claim a victory in the 200-yard freestyle while clocking in a time of 1:57.33.
Chelf earned a 50-yard freestyle win with a time of 23.36.
The Vikings ended the meet on a high note with a 400-yard freestyle relay win as Chelf, Kaelah Baccus, Palmer and Ana Sofia Sousa finished in 3:31.65.
Next, the CSU Vikings take on Oakland in an away meet on Jan. 24 at 4:00 p.m.
