Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill had its regional debut, Sept. 18, 2026 playing to a sold-out house at the Broadview Height Spotlights cultural arts building.

Storyline: The jukebox musical features the Healy Family. Parents Mary Jane Healy (Stefanie Malfara) and Steve Healy (Brian O. Jackson) work through their marriage troubles following MJ’s car accident and Steve’s hectic work schedule, while trying to hold up the image of the perfect suburban family. Their adopted daughter, Frankie (Kyla Burks), struggles to find her identity as an African American in an all-white town. Nick Healy (Anthony Harbert), faces his mother’s pressure to achieve perfectionism, while trying to decide for himself what is right. 

This not for profit show has been in the works since early July, when auditions opened. The theater is entirely volunteer based, and the show had a cast of all ages and experience. 

“You are going to see the most phenomenal cast,” said Ryan Bergeron, the musical director, ahead of its opening.

For two hours, the cast sang, danced and acted out a story that takes Morissette’s alternative rock album, also titled the Jagged Little Pill, and adds an original storyline that combines growing up with confronting hard truths, and leaves audiences wondering what comes next.

Cleveland State University’s very own Katie Moyers was a lead dancer, tasked with conveying Frankie’s emotions through her movement. 

“Being a part of this show has meant so much to me as an artist,” she said. “It has been really special using dance to help convey such a powerful role.” 

The show has a 15-minute intermission, with small refreshments provided and donations welcome 

Show dates are Sept. 25-Sept 26 (sold out), Oct. 2-3, at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee show at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27 (sold out). Tickets are $18-20 and can be bought at ticketpeak.com.
