Men's soccer falls to Marshall 1-0 in NCAA tournament
Cleveland State men’s soccer ended an excellent season with a 1-0 loss to 12th-ranked Marshall in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday evening.
The matchup was the Vikings’ second appearance in the NCAA tournament under head coach Sinisa Ubiparipovic and their 15th appearance overall.
Cleveland State’s first scoring chance came early in the game as Paolo Roditti's header was saved in the fifth minute. Marshall scored the lone goal of the half with a 25-yard free kick in the 27th minute.
The second half went scoreless, with the Vikings holding a 4-3 advantage in shots
Cleveland State had six shots in the game, led by two from Uzman Ramees and Roditti. The Vikings’ only shot on goal came from Roditti’s blocked attempt in the fifth minute.
Ryan Poling recorded three saves on the evening.
With Cleveland State’s first round loss to Marshall, the Horizon League champions 2025 season was over, but will not be forgotten.
