CSU women's soccer falls to Northern Kentucky 4-0

The loss kept the Vikings winless for the season and languishing in last place on the Horizon League table.

The Vikings returned home Thursday after three games on the road, but fell to Northern Kentucky 4-0, keeping them winless for the season and languishing in last place on the Horizon League table.

The Norse got into the scoring column first after Kaya Vogt capitalized on a poor clearance by the Vikings defense. The visitors doubled the margin in the 35th minute when Erykah Cornett finished from a cross.

The scoreline stayed 2-0 in favor of NKU at the intermission, with the Green and White trailing 6-3 in the shot category.

The second half went scoreless until the Norse found the back of the net in the 83rd and 88th minutes to claim the 4-0 road victory. Each team had three shots on goal during the second half.

Both teams had six corners on the night, while NKU edged out the Vikings 9-6 in shots on goal. Mayra Sesmas and Erica Leinweber each had two shots.

Goalie Madison Ott had two saves, before Elyse Broderick subbed in for her season debut.

With Thursday's loss, the Vikings moved to 0-9-1 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Following a loss to Wright State 3-2 on Sunday, their record is now 0-4 in conference play with no wins at home.

The Vikings will be looking to get into the win column Sunday, when they face Green Bay, at home on Senior Day at Krenzler field with a 1 p.m. kick-off. Admission is free.
