CSU women's basketball crushes Robert Morris, 79-40

Cleveland State controlled the game for all four quarters against Robert Morris, cruising to a comfortable win on the road.

Cleveland State women’s basketball defeated Robert Morris, 79-40, at UPMC Events Center, on the road, Feb. 24.

The Vikings started out strong, moving to a 12-6 lead midway through the first quarter, and never let up against the Colonials, taking a 41-11 lead into halftime, after holding RMU scoreless in the second quarter.

The momentum of the game never changed, as the Vikings cruised through the third and fourth quarter, adding 38 more points, for the 79-40 final score. 

The Vikings' Paulina Hernadez (24) was dominant in the final minutes, scoring all seven CSU points in a 7-3 closing run.

Colbi Maples (11) and Mickayla Perdue (0) led the Vikings’ scoring efforts. Maples finished with 22 points, her ninth 20-point game of the season. Perdue finished with 16 points. 

With the win, Cleveland State improved to 25-4 overall and 16-2 in Horizon League play. 

The Vikings followed up the win against RMU with another solid effort on the road, defeating Youngstown State 56-53 on Tuesday, improving to 26-4 overall this season and 17-2 in Horizon League play.

Next up: League leaders and tournament favorites, Cleveland State will close out its regular season, at home on Saturday, Mar. 2, hosting Northern Kentucky at 2:00 p.m. at the Wolstein Center. Go Vikes!
