CSU men's basketball defeats IUPUI, 85-66
Cleveland State men's basketball defeated IUPUI, 85-66, at the Henry J. Goodman Arena on Tuesday.
The visiting Jaguars led by 9-3 in the first 3 minutes but that lead was short-lived as Cleveland State fought back and took the lead, which they held for the rest of game, with 14 minutes to play in the opening half.
The Vikings went into halftime leading 44-29. The second half was all CSU.
Jayson Woodrich’s back-to-back triples extended the lead to 19 points. Towards the end, a Tevin Smith jumper pushed the lead to 29, the highest lead of the game with 3:25 left to go, before the siren and blowout win for The Vikings.
For the game, Woodrich scored a team-high 18 points and connecting on 4-of-7 attempts from 3-point range. Tristan Enaruna chipped in with 15 points, ending his 12 game streak of scoring 20 points or more. Enaruna also contributed five rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Cleveland State shot 60% from the field, including 40% from 3-point range. The Vikings also forced 19 Jaguar turnovers, earning 33 points from the stellar defensive effort.
Next, Cleveland State visits Youngstown State in the Horizon League quarterfinal at the Beeghly Center on March 7 at 7 p.m.
