Candy Land came alive in Cleveland State’s Student Center Jan. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as the Campus Activities Board created a sugary extravaganza to welcome students back to spring semester at Cleveland State.

Speakers played songs with titles that held a relationship with candy such as “Sucker” by the Jonas Brothers, “Sugar Sugar” by The Archies, and “Sugar Mama” by Beyoncé, while students wandered the larger-than-life game board in search of candy and games.

Students could visit Gumdrop Mountain where CAB members would spin them around and then students would attempt to pin a gumdrop on the target in an effort to win raffle tickets for prizes.

The Peppermint Forest enabled students to choose a lucky candy cane for a chance to win additional raffle tickets, and Cupcake Commons provided an opportunity for students to throw ping-pong balls through the cupcake for even more raffle tickets.

Other stations included the Licorice Castle, where students could make friendship bracelets with the red vines or just eat them, the buffet of sweets, and a line for cotton candy.

Carissa Templeton and Alice D’Andrea won the raffle prizes, which included Apple Airpods and two tickets to see “Anastasia” at Playhouse Square.

CAB attracted 346 students to the Extravaganza.
