The Daze rocks Viking Public House

Viking Public House, Cleveland’s newest pub, located across from the Cleveland State Science Building, hosted its first Live Music Friday with musical guest The Daze.

Viking Public House hosted its first Live Music Friday with a performance from The Daze on Nov. 17.

The two-piece band performed an acoustic set with songs from their debut album “Methomania.”

The Daze is a grunge rock band that formed in Jefferson, Ohio, in 2020. On Friday, they performed a two-hour set, selling t-shirts and CDs on the side at the pub. The band included in its set a unique rendition of Outkast’s “Ms. Jackson,” in which the drummer and keyboardist, Basil Johnson, used the keyboard to simulate the song’s background vocals.

There were slight technical difficulties when the acoustic guitar’s batteries went out. However, guitarist and vocalist Eddie Grier kept the show going by using the mic to pick up the guitar’s audio. The band continued with instrumentals for the rest of the warmly received gig.
