Cleveland State women’s basketball won the 2023-2024 Horizon League regular season championship, the first in the program’s history, after defeating Northern Kentucky, 81-69, March 2, at Henry J. Goodman Arena.
With the victory, the Vikings set a new program single-season record with 18 conference wins, breaking last season’s record of 17 wins. CSU extended their home court winning streak to 22 games.
The Vikings' shooting played a significant role in the win. They shot 56% against Northern Kentucky as a team.
Mickayla Perdue was the leading scorer for the Vikings, scoring 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Colbi Maples and Sara Guerreiro both scored 18 points for CSU. Guerreiro contributed her third double-double of the season, grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Vikings finished the regular season 27-4 overall and 18-2 in conference games. They finished the regular season undefeated at home.
Next, Cleveland State will host Northern Kentucky at Henry J. Goodman Arena in the Horizon League Tournament quarterfinal on March 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Cleveland State’s athletics website.
