Three Cleveland State wrestlers have earned a trip to the NCAA tournament after their performances at the Mid-American Championship. DeAndrew Nassar (pictured), Marcus Robinson and Ben Smith are headed to St. Louis, Missouri next week, along with any CSU wrestlers who earn at-large berths.

Sophomore goalkeeper Omeed Naeemy was a wall for the Vikings on Saturday stopping all six of Milwaukee’s shots on goal. Coming into the contest, Naeemy was tied for most shutouts in the Horizon League. 

“We are looking forward to Selection Sunday to see who we match up against," CSU's head coach Dennis Coach Gates said after the Vikings' Horizon League Championship win. “What we do know is that our guys will play together and they will play as best they can and will leave it all out on the court.”

For only the fourth time the Cleveland State Vikings advanced to the Horizon League championship game, coming back against Milwaukee on Monday night in Indianapolis. This will mark the first time the Vikings have competed for the league title since the 2018 season.

The Vikings improved to 7-5 overall record and 7-5 in the Horizon League. Newcomer, Robert Morris dropped to 0-10 overall and 0-10 in Horizon League play. CSU now travels to Fairborn, Ohio to face off on Monday against first-place Wright State (10-1 overall) and 10-0 in league play.

Cleveland State advanced to the semifinals of the Horizon League women’s basketball tournament after the Vikings defeated the UIC Flames 69-43 on Feb. 25 and the Green Bay Phoenix 69-63 on Tuesday.

“I told my guys there is no such thing as March without a little madness," Cleveland State Head Coach Dennis Gates said after the Vikings' triple OT 108-104 victory over the Mastodons in Tuesday's Horizon League tournament quarterfinal at the Wolstein Center.
