CSU’S women’s basketball defeats Purdue Fort Wayne 61-52

Cleveland State women’s basketball moved to 21-6 overall, 12-4 in Horizon League play with a 61-52 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne, away on Saturday.

Cleveland State trailed Purdue Fort Wayne through a tight first first quarter on Saturday, going into the first break down 14-11. They also trailed at halftime, 30-26, in a tight matchup, away in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Vikings turned the tables in the third quarter, going ahead on 6-1 run, paced by Jordana Reisma and Destiny Leo.

PFW fought back to retake the lead on a 5-0 run at the end of the quarter to begin the final quarter with a one-point advantage, 39-38.

The fourth quarter was close throughout, but the Vikings prevailed, pulling away from the home team for the 61-52 win.

At 21-6 overall and 12-4 in Horizon League play, CSU is now third in the league standings.

Up next, the Vikings start a three-game home stand, beginning with a 7 p.m. contest against Green Bay on Wednesday.
