CSU men’s lacrosse falls 10-7 at Bellarmine
The Cleveland State men’s lacrosse team dropped its third straight road game to open the season Saturday afternoon, falling 10-7 at Bellarmine.
Bellarmine scored the first three goals of the game before Adam Van Voorhis answered with back-to-back scores to cut the deficit to 3-2 at the end of the first quarter. Creed McDonald added two goals in the second, helping the Vikings enter halftime tied 4-4.
McDonald scored three points early in the third quarter to give Cleveland State its first lead, and Alex Long followed with a goal off a Jack Dickson assist to bring the score to 6-4. After Bellarmine pulled within one, Brennen Hickey converted a man-up opportunity from Van Voorhis to keep the Vikings in front 7-6 heading into the fourth quarter.
Bellarmine scored four unanswered goals in the final quarter to secure the win.
For CSU, Van Voorhis finished with five points on two goals and three assists, while Robbie Stewart won 15 of 21 faceoffs and collected eight ground balls. Justin Dalum made nine saves in net.
Cleveland State returns home Saturday, Feb. 21, to host Marquette at 1 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
