Students from Cleveland State, Kent State, John Carroll and Mount Union met public relations professionals at a speed networking event, April 11, at Marcus Thomas, LLC to discuss student prospects and career paths.

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) hosted the event which brought together students studying PR and in related fields with professionals from around northeast Ohio.

“It’s so important to come to events like this as a student,” said CSU’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Vice President Katelyn Digiacomo. “It helps us get more versed in the PR field as professionals.”

Speed networking is a fast-paced way to connect with professionals in a certain field of study. PRSA hosted 21 professionals at Marcus Thomas. Attendees were given five minutes to talk to each employer representative and encouraged to connect via LinkedIn QR codes.

The professionals were from various companies and organizations in the region, including the Cleveland Guardians, Marcus Thomas, LLC, the Cleveland Foundation, the Step2 Company and the City of Cleveland Mayor’s office.

Cleveland State’s chapter of PRSSA meets on Thursdays bi-weekly at 11:30 a.m. in MU 232.
