
CSU’s women’s soccer team defeats St. Bonaventure 1-0
Cleveland State (2-3-1) held St. Bonaventure (1-3-2) scoreless in a 1-0 win on Sunday.
Both teams went scoreless in the first half, with the Vikings taking 9 shots to the Bonnies’ 3.
The game remained tied at 0-0 until the 88th minute, when Mayra Sesmas (11) scored her third goal of the year off an assist by Sophia Cucchetti.
At the other end, Elyse Broderick (1) recorded four saves in her first start of the year in goal.
The Vikings ended the game with a 20-8 advantage in shots with an 8-4 edge in shots on goal. Sesmas accounted for a team-best four shots with three shots on goal, while Cortlyn Hefty (30) and Cucchetti each had three shots.
Next up, the Vikings will conclude non-league play with their senior day match against Morehead State at Frenzler Field on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m.
