
CSU men’s golf earns third at Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate
Cleveland State University placed third at the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate on Sunday, finishing at 28-over par and leading all Horizon League teams in the field. Butler University won the tournament with a combined score of 5-over.
CSU’s Brody Simms and Dillon Pendergast tied for third at 1-under, three strokes back of the winning score. Both golfers secured their second consecutive top-five finish to open the fall season.
Simms shot a final-round 72 with one birdie and two bogeys, following his first-place finish at Marshall earlier in the week. Pendergast carded an even-par 71, balancing three birdies and three bogeys, improving from his fifth-place tie at the Marshall Invitational .
Cleveland State’s Dominik Cosic tied for 54th at 17-over, Trace Gibson tied for 61st at 19-over, and Ryan Dinan placed 69th at 24-over.
Pendergast tied for first in the field on par-3s at 2-under and finished with 11 birdies, tied for second most. Simms tied for second on par-5s at 3-under and ranked sixth on par-4s at 1-over. He also recorded 39 pars, the fifth-most in the field.
The Vikings will return to play next weekend at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational hosted by Ball State, Sept. 20-21.
