CSU women's swimming and diving defeat St. Bonaventure in home opener

The Vikings concluded their two-day home opening dual on Oct. 25 with a 157–143 victory over St. Bonaventure, improving to 3-1 on the season.

The Cleveland State women’s swimming and diving team (3-1) opened its home schedule with a 157-143 victory over St. Bonaventure (0-4) Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Busbey Natatorium.

Sophomore Ellie Seiter led the way for the Vikings, sweeping both diving events. She posted scores of 263.93 in the 1-meter and 281.10 in the 3-meter competition. 

Sophomore Isabella Caraballo dominated in both distance events, winning the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:07.71 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:06.65. 

Cleveland State claimed the 200-yard medley relay, as Audrey Butcher, Ella Ciez, Rosie Whitten and Gracie Chelf combined for a time of 1:44.27. 

The Vikings also swept the top two spots in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Ciez finishing first in 1:05.71 and Skyler Turner close behind in 1:06.65. 

Butcher claimed another individual victory in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.79), followed by freshman Riley Ogilvie in second (2:10.41).

Chelf sprinted to a win in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 23.69. 

Turner won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.85, with Ciez taking second in 2:27.30.

Up next: Cleveland State will remain at home to face Youngstown State on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m.
