CSU men’s soccer defeat Xavier 3-1

The Vikings recorded the win Tuesday in non-league play against the Musketeers.

Cleveland State (3-5-3) defeated the Xavier Musketeers 3-1 Tuesday evening in non-league play.

The Vikings got off to a rocky start when Nathan Tricket scored for Xavier (4-4-4) 22 seconds into the game with an assist from Michael Rogalski.

16 minutes in, Cleveland State levelled the score when Matteo Correia scored off passes from Josip Rimac and Bojan Kolevski.

Correia scored again in the half, his fifth of the season. Tom Mertz set up Correia for the goal with a timely pass.

Caleb Trowbridge then scored in the 82nd minute, putting the Vikings ahead 3-1.

Cleveland State goalkeeper  Ryan Polling had seven saves, and William Wagner and Correia both ended the game with two shots.

Next up, CSU faces IU Indy in a league game for Alumni Day. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. at Krenzler Field.
