Cleveland State volleyball splits series with Purdue Fort Wayne

The Vikings lost Friday 3-0, but reversed the result Saturday with a 3-0 win against the visiting Mastodons.

Cleveland State's volleyball team split its two-match series with Purdue Fort Wayne, falling in straight sets Friday night before reversing that result against the Mastodons on Saturday.

Friday

Nia Hall led Cleveland State with eight kills, while Liberty Torres contributed seven. JeriLynn Koehler and Chloe List added four apiece. 

Setter Ella Mihacevich recorded 24 assists, seven digs and three blocks in the loss. On defense, Emma Walker and Reilly Wadden each tallied nine digs, while Koehler and Julia Jozefov posted three blocks each.

Walker’s nine digs moved her to third in Cleveland State’s career record book with 1,483.

Saturday

CSU avenged the loss Saturday, winning 3-0 against the visiting Mastodons.

Torres led the Viking offense with 17 kills, while Hall added nine kills on the day.

Mihacevich finished with 33 assists and 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.

Walker tallied 13 digs, while Ayva Leon added 11 and Laken Voss finished with 10.

With her 13 digs against the Mastodons, Walker moved into second place on the CSU Career Digs List, finishing the match with 1,496 total digs.

As a team, the Vikings finished with 10.0 total blocks, including eight from Jozefov and four from Hall.

With the win, the Vikings moved to 14-6 overall and 5-4 in Horizon League play.
