Cleveland State volleyball dominates UTRGV in home opener

Cleveland State's volleyball team showed their skills in their first home opener against UTRGV, in a five-set victory.

Cleveland State University women's volleyball team opened its home account Sept. 6, defeating The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in five sets.

CSU senior Liberty Torres (3) managed 20 kills alongside her teammate Laken Voss (16), who managed 11 kills. Nia Hall (1) added another 10 to help out the Viking offense.

The defense for the Vikings was on fire with senior Emma Walker (6) pushing 23 digs all in the first set of the game.

While the Vikings momentum was high in the first set, they still fell short but were able to double back in the second set. That momentum carried into the third set of the game as a teamwork of kills and blocks allowed the Vikings to grind out a win.

UTRGV fought back to take the fourth set, but the Vikings prevailed in the fifth and final frame to take the match.
