Cleveland State women's volleyball is 8-2 and top of the Horizon League in non-league play, ahead of the season opener next week.

Cleveland State sweeps Kent State 3-0

CSU women's volleyball extended its win streak to four with Thursday's victory, moving to 8-2 for the season ahead of Horizon League play which begins next week.

The Cleveland State University volleyball team extended its current win streak to four straight Thursday, picking up a 3-0 victory at Kent State. With the win, the Vikings are now 8-2 this season with one game to play before Horizon League matches start next week.

Three Vikings finished with double-digit kills, led by Liberty Torres with 14. Nia Hall added 11 kills, while JeriLynn Koehler chipped in 10.

As a team, Cleveland State finished with seven service aces, including three from Emma Walker and two from Ella Mihacevich.

Walker tallied a team-best 26 digs, while Laken Voss added 11.

Koehler recorded five blocks against Kent State, while Torres added four.

In the opening set, the Vikings notched a 7-0 run midway, easing to a 25-15 win.

The second set was much closer, with Kent State fighting back after CSU were ahead 13-6. The final score was 25-23 on a Voss kill.

Cleveland State carried its momentum into the third set, leading 16-10 midway, then posting the final five points of the match for the 3-0 sweep.

The Vikings close out non-league play Friday, hosting Akron at 6:00 p.m.
