Cleveland State women's soccer fell to Niagara, 3-0 on Sept. 5. The Vikings were playing from behind almost the entire contest after the Purple Eagles nabbed a goal in the first minute of play.

Cleveland State senior Jules Blakely captured an elusive hole-in-one during the teams competition at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate tournament in Verona, New York. The Vikings finished sixth out of 15 teams.

The Cleveland State men’s soccer team dropped their second game in a row, falling to Bowling Green, 3-0, in the Vikings’ home opener on Sept. 3. The Vikings fell behind 2-0 in the first half and were out-shot 19-2.

Cleveland State women's soccer turned in a gutsy effort as they overcame two separate deficits to reach a 2-2 draw against Miami (OH) on September 2.

The Vikings strung together one of their most impressive seasons in the past 35 years. They were crowned Horizon League regular season (16-7) champions and captured their first Horizon League tournament championship since 2009. They won 16 league games, the most since 1992-1993, eventually clinching just the third NCAA tournament berth in program history.

The Vikings dropped a set of doubleheaders on the road against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Friday and Saturday, falling to 9-23 overall for the season.

CSU avoided a shutout in game one after Aly Packish was struck by a pitch to walk in the run. YSU won the game 8-1.
