Fenn Hall preparing to take in COVID-19 frontline

Cleveland State University is preparing dorms in Fenn Hall as temporary housing for COVID-19 healthcare workers who cannot go home to their families after being exposed to patients testing positive for the virus.

In a daily briefing by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Amy Acton, the director of the Ohio Department of Health, Acton said a team is monitoring hospital capacity and determining the need for turning dorms into temporary housing or even COVID-19 hospitals.

Cleveland State released a statement April 3 indicating it does not know specifically what group or groups Fenn would house, if the university does provide assistance with the hospitalization effort.

Most students have moved out of Fenn Hall. A small number of students who have no other housing, have all been relocated to Euclid Commons.

Cleveland State will provide updated information on the use of the building as it becomes available.
