Engineering & computer science fair connects students, companies
The Washkewicz College of Engineering hosted its annual fall connections fair Sept. 27 for engineering and computer science students, featuring 180 companies looking for prospective interns, part-time and full-time workers.
1,525 students attended the in the Wolstein Center, 121 more than originally registered. Two of the companies interviewed students for open positions on the day. Many other companies are still setting up interviews with students, who were encouraged to bring their resumes to the fair.
Erin Elosh, senior manager of the Fenn Co-op Program and Industry Outreach, helped to organize the event.
“This event is a huge resource for students seeking co-ops, internships or full-time jobs upon graduation,” Elosh said. “It gives them a chance to talk with a recruiter face-to-face to make a connection that goes beyond submitting a resume online.”
Elosh also acts as a co-op adviser for mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology and electronic engineering technology. Co-ops let students work part time while they're finishing their studies.
Engineering students can expect two connection fairs per year, with the second one in the spring, in late February. For students looking for career opportunities that may not be geared toward engineering, CSU is planning an all-campus career fair for spring 2025.
