In its yearly ranking of Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs, the U.S. News & World Report ranked Cleveland State University's Online Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program #35 in the nation.

The program was originally designed for working professionals interested in earning the BBA degree but who were unable to attend in-person classes at the university. The program serves as a flexible way for learners to earn their degree in general business, while implementing that learning in their day-to-day jobs.

Anne Nelson, assistant dean of student services for the Monte Ahuja College of Business, was instrumental in designing the program.

“Back in 2013, the College of Business had very few classes that were online at the junior and senior level, so I had to seek support from the faculty to change several courses and add additional online sections,” Nelson said. She spent a year creating the program before it was officially launched in fall 2014.

Nelson credited the program with increasing the college's student numbers and student interest in online learning.

“The program not only helped to shoot up the enrollment, but it also revealed our own full-time students on the CSU campus who were interested in these online classes,” Nelson said. “Student’s began to see the benefit in having in-person classes mixed in with online classes.”

Kenneth Kahn, dean of the Monte Ahuja College of Business, said the U.S. News & World Report ranking was “a major and deserving recognition of this program and the Monte Ahuja College of Business overall.”
