CSU's Campus Activities Board host Muggle Madness

Cleveland State students enjoyed the wizarding world here on campus with Muggle Madness in the Fenn Tower Ballroom, Tuesday evening.

The CSU Campus Activities Board hosted "Muggle Madness," a Harry Potter-themed ball, in the Fenn Tower Ballroom on Tuesday. Attendees mingled, enjoyed themed food, raffle baskets and activities.

Students attending the event based on J.K. Rowling’s famed book series were required to check in with their student IDs to receive free admission. Guests, coined "Non-CSU Muggles," paid a $5 admission fee.

The Fenn Tower Ballroom was transformed into a Hogwarts-esque party, with organizers and attendees alike dressed in their wizarding attire. Viking Food Co. provided themed foods such as Broomstick Reese’s Cups and Herbology Bites.

The dance itself was inspired from the Yule Ball from the Harry Potter series, where the students of Hogwarts gather for a formal winter dance.

"I am a Harry Potter fan, and it’s fun to have a magical ball," said event organizer Ramandeep Arora. "Especially with snowy dances like the Yule Ball, it’s fun to have something to do in the winter."

The next event hosted by Campus Activities Board is Destress & Desserts on Feb. 13, with City Dogs Cleveland. Students will have the opportunity to spend time with precious pups from Cleveland's dog shelter and enjoy various desserts.

    Five Black women inspired their audience, March 1, at a panel organized by Cleveland State's Mareyjoyce Green Women’s Center to initiate women’s history month with a discussion of the meaning of Black womanhood.

    55 high school teams competed for top robot at the 25th annual FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Buckeye Regional competition at the Wolstein Center from March 20-23.

    The Career fair has become one of the biggest events each year at CSU. Career Development and Exploration hosts the fair, which this year brought together potential employers with students on March 7, 2024. One hundred and twenty-five employers, 275 recruiters from industries across the region, and 16 school districts were represented. A third of the employers said they were open to hiring international students.
