The Viking Fund is Holding a Trick or Trot 5K

Registration is live for the Cleveland State University Viking Fund’s Trick or Trot 5K.

The Cleveland State University Viking Fund is holding a virtual 5K fundraiser, Trick or Trot, to raise money for Cleveland State athletics.

The Trick or Trot allows alumni, family and friends of Vikings athletics to participate in a 5K run, walk or hike at their favorite spot while supporting CSU athletes. Once participants have completed their 5K, they will submit a picture of their time to r.c.heller@csuohio.edu.

Brandon Longmeier, the assistant athletic director for the Viking Fund, organized the event to engage with the community in a time where interaction is limited.

“These virtual events that we are holding are not meant to replace the in-person events of which we were unable to host over the past 7 months,” Longmeier said. “But rather provide opportunities for us to creatively engage our great alumni bases in Northeast Ohio and across the world.”

“Our coaching staff and department administration are very eager and open to appealing to our alumni and fans in a different fashion and we will continue to identify innovative ways to communicate and establish relationships with our Viking alumni and fanbase,” he continued.

All funds raised from the Trick or Trot 5K will go directly into the Viking Fund, which assists in the development of Cleveland State student-athletes as people, students, and athletes. The Viking Fund provides the department with proper financial resources to support and augment scholarships, academic services, nutrition, travel, equipment and other areas that benefit the more than 330 student-athletes here at CSU.

The Viking Trick or Trot 5K is currently running live through Nov. 1 and you can join in here.
