
CSU women's soccer hold Wright State to scoreless draw
Cleveland State women's soccer (3-5-6, 0-2-5) fought to their second straight scoreless draw Sunday afternoon against Wright State (6-5-3, 3-0-3).
The Vikings doubled the visitors in shots 6-3 and shots on goal 4-2 in a defensive first half.
In the second half, hosts CSU had two shots going off the crossbar, one by Maria Bashardoust in the 75th minute and another by Emilee Tonkovich in the 80th minute, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Hayleigh Lewis recorded seven saves as she picked up her second consecutive shutout in goal.
Both teams attempted 14 shots on the day, with Wright State holding a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kicks favored Cleveland State as they held a 9-7 edge.
Cortlyn Hefty had a team-high four shots with three being on goal, while Mayra Sesmas and Tonkovich each recorded two shots.
The Vikings now head to Robert Morris on Thursday, Oct. 16, for a 4 p.m. Horizon League matchup, fighting to get into the win column with three games to play.
