The Cleveland State fencing teams competed in the OSU Elite Invitational at Ohio State's French Field House in Columbus on Nov. 8 and Nov. 9.

Cleveland State earned three combined event victories, with all three coming from the women’s side. 

Saturday 

The Vikings opened the OSU Elite Invitational on Nov. 8, competing in seven dual meet bouts during the day.

For the men’s team, Sal Sorrentino, Marcus Strugar, Nolan Giovagnoli, Ben Palladino, MJ Qashou, Jack Miller, Trent Chemezov, Conner Bailey and Simon Caisse each collected at least one individual bout victory on opening day.

Rayllen Prafil Capaccio, Anna Quinn, Evelyn Malvestuto, Anna Klimenko and Samantha Way all claimed individual wins for the women's team.

The women's epee team of Rayllen Prafil Capaccio and Anna Klimenko earned two victories at the event, winning 5-4 over Penn State and Denison. 

The duo of Aubrey Testroet and Samantha Way claimed the Vikings’ third event victory with a 5-4 saber win over Wayne State in the final match of the day.

Cleveland State will take an extended break before returning to competition in January at Notre Dame. 

The Vikings will compete two more times in the regular season before the CCFC Championship competition scheduled for late February in Granville, Ohio.
