CSU theatre student talks about how COVID-19 has affected her performing arts education
Sophia Costanzo was looking forward to a busy few months during one of her final semesters at Cleveland State as she nears the completion of her theatre degree -- but like many students, the coronavirus crisis changed everything.
In this podcast, Costanzo talks about some of the creative measures she has gone to for studio classes held over Zoom, how the quarantine has affected her mental health, and how she has coped with the cancellation of "Blood at the Root," Cleveland State's final play for the season. Costanzo would have portrayed a leading role in the production, which was based on the true story of "the Jena Six," from Jena High School in Louisiana. It dealt with powerful themes such as racism, homophobia, and an unfair judicial system.
