CSU PRSSA, the student chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, hosted a fundraiser at The Fruit Stand on Sept. 24.
A $1 donation went to PRSSA each time a customer said they were with the organization after buying a smoothie or building their own fruit bowl with fruits, crunchies, and drizzle. The donations will help the organization to continue planning events for students at CSU.
“It’s a great opportunity for student organizations to collaborate with local businesses and also gives us a chance to meet people and students in the area as well,” said Madison Johnson, The Fruit Stand’s general manager.
The fundraiser started when CSU's PRSSA reached out to The Fruit Stand to partner and plan the dine-to-donate event. The busiest time for the shop is around noon. On the day, many people in the area were grabbing a quick bite during their lunch break. Many CSU students and staff members showed up to support the event.
“Anytime you can do a partnership that encourages students and staff to make healthier and impactful choices is beneficial in many ways,” said Kim Gillan-Shafron, manager of marketing and communications at CSU.
