CSU celebrates faculty accomplishments and promotions
Cleveland State University honored faculty promotions and tenure, and bestowed distinguished faculty awards, provost’s awards and distinguished professor awards at the Celebration of Faculty Excellence for the 2023 academic year, on Tuesday in the Glasscock Family Ballroom.
The Celebration of Faculty Excellence is a yearly event held in the spring that commemorates the accomplishments of faculty in the previous academic year. Hosted by the provost, vice provost and president, the event recognizes faculty members and their achievements.**
CSU President Laura Bloomberg, Ph.D, quoted Voltaire in her opening remarks.
“Appreciation is a wonderful thing," she said. "It makes what is excellent in others belong to all of us.”
Vice Provost Raymond Henry, Ph.D, announced promotions and tenure awarded to the professors and librarians honored for their work. Each faculty member received a framed certificate of their promotion and had the chance to pose for a photo with President Bloomberg.
The Distinguished Faculty Award honorees were presented with a short introduction from each faculty member’s nominator.

He is an author, journalist and is nationally recognized for his scholarship on the topics of persuasion, political communication and the psychology of media perception.
“He is a good thought partner,” Bloomberg said, during her summary of Perloff's accomplishments.
Following the president's closing remarks, faculty mingled at a reception.
Students can show appreciation of faculty members by filling out course evaluations at the end of each semester.
** Editor's note: Unfortunately Provost Nigamanth Sridhar, Ph.D. was unable to attend the event due to a traffice accident on the morning of April 2. He is currently in a stable condition.
